If you’re a self-confessed shoe addict, then chances are, you already know exactly what you want from your wedding shoes. But there is a lot of choice out there, and whether you’re opting for ‘something blue’ like Carrie Bradshaw’s infamous Manolo Blahnik’s, or you’re trying to find a beautiful style on a budget, then you might need a little bit of help in trying to decide what works best for you.

Here are some of our favourite tips to consider when choosing your bridal shoes…

Work around your dress

The perfect time to shop for your shoes is after you’ve chosen your dress, but before you’ve had your first fitting. This way, you can take a picture of your dress, or a swatch of the fabric, when you’re searching for your shoes. This is particularly useful if you’re opting for ivory or a shade of off-white; if you’re trying to get your shoes to match, then having a swatch of the fabric will be super handy. Once you have your shoes, you can then take them along to your dress fitting, so your seamstress will know how to adjust the length of your gown.

Comfort over style?

Bridal heels are stunning – and often we see the likes of Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and Valentino gracing our gorgeous brides. But unless you’re an absolute pro at wearing high heels, chances are, you’ll be swapping the designer kicks for bare feet or flip flops before the night is over. Your wedding is a long day, and you’ll be on your feet for the majority of it, so it’s really important to find a shoe that you love… and that your feet love too. There are so many gorgeous bridal flats out there too, whether you’re opting for a change, or you’d feel more comfortable staying in flats all day.

You don’t have to break the bank

A designer wedding shoe is a special luxurious treat, but absolutely not a necessity. If you’re watching your budget and just can’t justify spending a fortune on shoes that hide underneath a dress all day, then get yourself to the high street! There are so many brands both on and offline that have stunning bridal shoes that rival high end designers, so do some searching in your favourite shops and see what you can find. We love Uppersole¬†for their versatile range of cheap bridal shoes, and there are so many comfortable styles to choose from too.

Dare to be different

More and more we’re seeing brides rocking something a little bit different, whether it’s cowboy boots, Converse or customisation. Don’t be afraid to be a little bit different and do something that’s totally personal to you – after all, it’s your special day!
