Should you invite children to your big day?
A question that can cause many disagreement when planning a wedding. Every bride wants her special day to be perfect, the sun shining, a beautiful dress, 2 or 3 young bridesmaids scattering petals as she walks down the aisle, looking like a princess, a day to truly remember.
But what about noisy kids? While some believe youngsters add to the happiness of the occasion, others envision wedding vows drowned out by screams. During our many years of planning, Sally & I have started to notice that more and more bride & grooms stipulate that children are not allowed.
It has definitely become more prevalent. Sally & I are regularly asked for our opinions... so here are a few of our words of advice! Discuss it with your partner, what are his/her thoughts? You must respect each other's opinions; remember this is meant to be the happiest day of your lives.
Work out 'for's and against'. Which is a bigger list? Ask the vicar for their views in advance. Explain reasons in the invitation. Be stoical if guests can't attend as a result This is a big one for us! If children do attend, provide toys or entertainment. H&C strongly believe in 'Goody Bags'.
Keeping children involved but entertained while the speeches are going on etc! What more can you ask for?!
