On a bright Saturday in October a first was on the cards for us at Honeysuckle & Castle. For the first time, we experience a Tudor themed wedding with a BANG!
Our authentic Lincolnshire wedding venue, Gainsborough Old Hall could have not been more fitting for the day, this Tudor built venue was perfect for the super interesting and exciting themed wedding of Jamie-lee & Tom.
I learnt from the moment of meeting Jamie-Lee & Tom that this couple do not do things by halves. Jamie-Lee and her maid of honour were hands on from the get go making numerous decorations for the day however the making didn’t end there for Jamie-Lee. Jamie-Lee, by hand and with a lifetime of patience, made all the amazing outfits for the boys and bridesmaids. The made outfits were sensational to say the least! A magical touch creating sentimental items that can be treasured by Jamie-Lee and her family forever!
Jamie & Tom’s outfits were made by Gina Clark from Tudor Dreams Historical Costumier. The Tudor Dreams Historical Costumier specialise in creating Tudor themed events. They also perfectly dressed and styled the Great Hall and provided hired costumes to the guests allowing the them to get involved with all the fun.
The Great Hall looked magnificent – it really was like stepping back in time to when Henry VIII would have dined at the Old Hall. The venue has such an impressive history, it was a pleasure to experience the past but also create a new piece history.
After the Civil Ceremony within the Upper Great Chamber, the guests experienced their first taste of Tudor as they enjoyed the birds of prey presentation on the lawns – provided by Derek Tindal Birds of Prey. They also continued the fun with a round of archery (provided by J.P Archery) and a few fitting canapés made by Black Peppermint Food Company.
If you are planning a medieval themed wedding or party then Trouvère medieval Minstrels are perfect for creating the right atmosphere. The three medieval musicians provided authentic entertainment throughout Jamie-Lee’s & Tom’s banquet with comic tales and medieval dancing.
The most amazing smelling chocolate cake was supplied by Cherry Blossom Cakes in Bawtry, Doncaster. Honestly, it smelt AMAZING….we could taste it all the way from the other side of the hall!
Jamie’s, Kelly’s and Katy’s shoes were custom made by Heart Desires from Wakefield.
The bouquet and flowers were made by Lauretta at Peony Florals
Finally, this spectacular day was amazingly captured through the lens of the super Holly-Rose Photography. I really have struggled (with a capital ‘S’) to pick a small selection of images, so sit back and enjoy the lengthy show! x
