If you’ve been following the Honeysuckle & Castle blog for some time now, you’ll know that we have our resident Blogging Brides who share their wedding planning journey in a series of blog posts. 2018’s Blogging Bride Annie has recently tied the knot! And so it was time to find a new lovely face to share her story.

Amanda & Tom get married at Calke Abbey this Summer, so here’s Amanda letting you in on the first part of their wedding planning journey…

I’m engaged! As of 14th August 2018 – and I’m getting married at the beautiful Calke Abbey on Saturday 18th July 2020… I am so frickin’ excited!

My name is Amanda and my fiancé Tom asked me to marry him after 8 years. 8 very quick years, that have seen us rent an apartment in the centre of Derby for 5 and a half, buy a house just outside the centre two years ago, and add a puppy (miniature sausage dog, Gus) to our little family.

He asked me at one of our favourite hotels – Rudding Park in Harrogate – after dinner on the first night. We took a stroll outside, as the house looks beautiful lit up at night; we turned a corner, and saw a set-up of candles, blankets and champagne.

This (pictured above) was my face. And my head. Blurred, happy and full of tears.

The next day we went to The Ivy for lunch in Harrogate and relaxed in the spa which was amazing! Followed by a taster menu dinner, it was the perfect day to keep in our little bubble. I must have looked at my ring all day. Looked at my ring and drank a lot of Aperol Spritz. All day.

My ring is from a little jewellers in Ashbourne called Avanti and it is perfect; style, fit, everything. If I could have picked it myself this is the one I would have picked.

We met in ‘da club’ Blue Note in Derby, in October 2010. He was 25 and I had just graduated at 21. Neither of us had meant to be out that night and both had been dragged out by friends – after chatting for a bit, he took the plunge and asked me out to dinner that week. And the rest, they say, is history…
